The Seeds of Happiness Guy
Mark’s interest in art began when he was a toddler, just ask his mom! Even as a young artist, his work focused on faces and smiles. Maybe it’s a reflection of his happy-go-lucky, goofy nature. The guy is always laughing. While in high school, an art teacher mentored Mark and helped him get into college where he earned four degrees in fine art. Mark has been fortunate to have continuously earned a living as an artist.
In 2006, Mark gave the very first Seeds of Happiness as a heartfelt act of kindness. Since that time, those silly-looking pocket-sized smiles have grown organically into a thriving business. What started as gifts to friends has turned into a world-wide smile-sharing community. Together we can connect with kindness and change the world, one smile at a time.
“My artwork is not serious, but I take my art very seriously.” - Mark Borella
The Mudslinger
Remember the high school art teacher that mentored Mark and helped him get into college? Well, a few years ago he retired from teaching. Guess what he does now? After reconnecting with Mark, David is the chief mudslinger in charge of handcrafting the Seeds of Happiness mugs!
The Love Pups
Did you know just looking into your dog’s eyes (if you have one) helps raise your levels of oxytocin – known as the love hormone? I mean, you can see it’s true by looking at these adorable pups. Mark’s dogs come to the studio with him every day and Munch was the inspiration for the puppy dog seeds.
The Studio
It takes a loving team to start a kindness revolution. Seeds of Happiness has an amazing staff of artists who help sculpt, glaze, fire, stamp, and package smiles to share throughout the world. They’ve constantly got clay under their fingernails and glaze on their skin, but they know it’s worth it to bring more smiles into the world.
