SPARK ⭕ Seeds from college travel far
July 15, 2024
I would always be pleasantly surprised when seeds of happiness were given out at events at Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri. It wasn't often enough for them to become boring (I mean, could they ever be boring?) but also often enough for me to grow my little collections. Now I live in Oregon, working at a new university. I still have my seed collection, still front and center at my desk, still smiling at me no matter how the day is going. I've decided to share the joy with my new office. I can't wait for my new order to seeds to arrive so I can spread the smiles! |
SPARK ⭕ Seeds are for people in need
July 13, 2024
I just wanted to thank you for giving me that seed of happiness.
At first I wasn't quite sure what to do with it, but I knew it had to go to someone who was in need.
So today I received an email from my dad telling me that my Grandpa had another mini-stroke and that he was in the hospital. I went to visit him this afternoon and while he was still pretty out of it, I really loved the seed of happiness. My grandmother also was overjoyed about it and won't stop talking about it :) I'm sure she showed it to everyone that visits. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you and I'll see you on Thursday.

SPARK ⭕ Postal Carrier carrying smiles
July 12, 2024
Hi, I am a postal mail lady. I have developed a treat system for all the dogs on my route. I Love doing this as it brings the biggest heartfelt moments for me to enjoy. So far I deliver treats to 86 dogs and counting on my mail route of at least 600 homes. I'm always looking for dogs that need the extra attention. I received this cute little guy with a note attached explaining The Seeds of Happiness! I've never heard of this. They were thanking me for making their sweet dog so happy to get a treat in the mailbox. When I would arrive I would see the cute white baby looking out the window waiting for it's owner's to come home from work. I just couldn't ignore that sweet face starring out the front window wait for his owners to come home. So I started putting a doggy treat in their mailbox when I would see him looking out the window. I'm so happy to make a new friend!!
So thank you kindly for the wonderful Seed of Happiness. I feel so blessed to have you as a great friend!!

SPARK ⭕ Finding comfort in smiles
July 10, 2024
Recently received one of these little guys as a token from a family friend. Opening the gift made me tear up and I was overwhelmed by the heartfelt feelings as the week had been so tough with the passing of my cousin's fiance at age 22. Finding comfort in this little seed gave me a smile and brought me out of my numbness and I could actually breathe with hope once more! Thank you C.S., my lifelong pseudo-mommie....you could not have found a more perfect memento to awaken senses and find hope in our loss!

SPARK ⭕ Hundreds of smiles given
July 09, 2024
They have brought such joy to people in my house and all around my kids. The sentimental value is huge as well.
I think since Xmas 2021 alone I’ve given out 100. Thank you for making the world smile.
SPARK ⭕ Spread smiles in the house
July 08, 2024
He told me that the stones were still there, and I told him to give them to the family members who were present to spread happiness at this sad time.
I told him that's what they are for, and he said he would do just that. Thank you so much for providing joy to our family.
SPARK ⭕ Smiles from ear to ear
July 06, 2024
I talked to him at length and told him he just needs to get this surgery behind him and he will have his smile back soon.
Then it dawned on me that I have the smile seeds at home!
I went and got one for him and wrote him a note that one day soon he will be cancer free and he will be smiling again from ear to ear and I can’t wait to have his smiling face looking back at me.
He was crying and gave me a hug and we stood there hugging and crying together.

SPARK ⭕ Smiles and grief
July 02, 2024
I lost my best friend to suicide a month ago today. I am usually a very happy girl. I smile all the time and know how to make others smile. But for around 2 weeks I just couldn’t bring myself to do so. Then my mom came home from work with a seed of happiness from one of her co workers for me and it was the first thing to make me smile sInce.
I love what you guys are doing and thank you for bringing me my smile back. Keep on smiling!
SPARK ⭕ World on his shoulders
July 01, 2024
Today there was a ray of sunshine that came my way! I went in to see a patient and without even knowing I am going through a rough patch, she gave me a seed of happiness. She gave me one for myself and one to give.
As soon as she handed them to me, I wanted to burst into tears. It was like God was calling to me saying to be happy!
Everything will be ok. It really brought a smile to my face and I will use this seed to remind me to be happy because life is beautiful!

SPARK ⭕ Grief and Smiles
June 29, 2024
I asked my professor if I could miss class because my dog was being put down, I was 8 hours away so I didn't even get to say goodbye. She of course let me, and we shared one of our few hugs. Later she had my roommate drop off a seed of happiness.
I have kept it with me the last two years.
Now, her husband was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. It has already spread to his brain and spine. Obviously not the same, but now I am right hours away from her.
Now I get to plant a seed of happiness.
I grieve for her. I am so glad I got to see their amazing love for each other. Her unbreakable spirit is something to truly be inspired by.
